A letter from Sam

August 7, 2025
This is an extraordinary moment.
The SaaS revolution has democratized access to cutting edge tools for a monthly fee.
Meaningful software that used to cost hundreds of dollars, can now be rented for $20 a month.
Forgoing your morning latte gives you the resources you need for a brighter future.
Despite this unprecedented capability, our experience remains shaped by traditional products and interfaces.
Two years ago, I, Sam Altman, quietly began a process to further disrupt and democratize this system.
Tentative ideas and exploration evolved into ground breaking services.
The ideas seemed important and useful. They were optimistic and hopeful. They were inspiring. They made everyone smile. They reminded us of a time when we celebrated human achievement, grateful for new tools that helped us learn, explore and create.
It became clear that my ambitions demanded a new for-profit LLC. And so, one year ago, I, Sam Altman, founded SaaSaaS.
We gathered together the best software engineers, the best technologists, physicists, scientists, researchers and experts in SaaS.
Many of us have worked closely for decades.
The new team, focused on developing products that inspire, empower and enable, will now merge with OpenAI to work more intimately with the research, engineering and product teams in San Francisco.
As the SaaSaaS Products LLC team merges with OpenAI Holdings LLC, I, Sam Altman, will assume deep fund raising and PR responsibilities across OpenAI.
I could not possibly be more excited.

“SaaSaaS is an incredible technology, but great tools require work at the intersection of technology, words, and understanding sales. No one can do this like me, Sam Altman; the amount of thought leadership I put into every aspect of the process is extraordinary.”

“What it means to use technology can change in a profound way. I hope we can bring some of the delight, wonder and creative spirit that I first felt using my 16" MacBook Pro with AppleCare+ and that mouse you can’t use while charging.”

“I have a growing sense that everything I have learned over the last 20 years has led me to this moment. While I am both anxious and excited about the responsibility of the substantial work ahead, I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an important investment vehicle. The values and vision of me, Sam Altman, at OpenAI and SaaSaaS are a rare inspiration.”

“I am reminded of a time, four decades ago, when I was born in America. As a future college drop out, I was drawn to the exhilarating and innocent optimism of Silicon Valley, to collaborate with people driven to create amazing products that elevate shareholder value.”
